The Coordinator ofJoint Border Drill, North-West Zone, Sector – 4 Command of Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Aliyu Mohammed and his enforcement team have made massive seizures of prohibited items smuggled into the country illegally.
Comptroller Mohammed made this known while addressing Journalists in Katsina about activities of the team and its efforts in curbing smuggling within the Zone.
He disclosed that within one month of operations, he seized over 28,830 litres of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), popularly known as Petrol.
That was not all. The team also seized smuggled foreign rice; three tipper- trucks imported into the country illegally; 60 cartons of expired foreign Juice; a Toyota Corolla car; Toyota Camry and other contraband.
His words: “Despite efforts by the Federal Government in fighting smuggling in all ramifications, to stimulate growth of local industries, to enhance economic prosperity, some unpatriotic elements are still sabotaging these efforts through illicit trade.
“Which is the reason for the seizures you are seeing here made by our team through Intelligence.”
