Giant strides :  Global Transport Policy Annual Roundtable concludes plans to launch new initiative, bilingual magazine

Apparently, the Nigerian transport industry is poised for greater growth, as the Global Transport Policy Annual Roundtable has concluded plans to launch a new initiative in the transport industry and the bilingual magazine.

The programme, which is going to be a special one, will bring together dignitaries from various agencies in the transport industry.

More so, top government functionaries, stakeholders and experts in the transport industry will grace this special occasion, slated for Wednesday April 24, 2024, at the prestigious Marriot Hotel, Ikeja, Lagos.

Speaking during a press conference in Lagos, the Chairman and Chief Consultant, Global Transport Policy, Dr. Segun Musa, said arrangement is on top gear to make the annual roundtable and launch of Global Transport Policy (GTP) bilingual magazine a unique occasion.

He informed :  “Our mission is very clear. We are going to amplify the conversation such that with an excellent transport infrastructure blueprint, Nigeria shall indeed become a continental economic powerhouse.

“This is because the transport infrastructure will serve as the lifeblood of our interconnected world, facilitating the movement of people, goods and ideas across climes, as well as nations”.

He explained that the developments in recent times have shown clearly the need for urgent and important conversations, which will stimulate tangible growth and development in the transport industry. In that capacity, relevant stakeholders will brainstorm on ways to overcome challenges in the industry and proffer lasting solutions that will enhance growth now and in the long-term.

According to him, the programme has a well thoughtout theme; ‘Transport infrastructure and strategic policy intervention- building blocks for economic growth’.

Also, important personalities expected to grace this much talked-about programme include President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sawno-Olu will be the Chief host.

Others are Ministers of Transport, Aviation and Aerospace Development, Marine & Blue Economy, Industry, Trade & Investment; Foreign Affairs, among others.

During the programme, keynote presentation will be made by Dr. Alban Igwe, a seasoned global transport specialist, who will shape the conversation around the theme.

The first Panel session will bring on board important government agencies such as Nigeria Railway Corporation, NRC, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria, FAAN, Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, to discuss transport infrastructure and regional integration: assessing the potential of transport infrastructure development for national integration.

Also, international diplomats from embassies of France, Singapore, United Kingdom and the United States will do justice to the second Theme titled: ‘Intermodal transport in the 21st century: trends, developments and policies in developed nations.’

The programme will create ample opportunity for States to engender comprehensive transport growth for economic impact through strategic synergy, in order to reinforce national advancement across, the nation.
