The rice seized by FOU at waterways:

The Federal Operations Unit, FOU, Zone ‘A’ of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, is battle-ready for economic saboteurs, as the Unit through intelligence signal intercepted about 815 bags of rice (50kg each), from the creeks within its area of operations.

A credible source disclosed this to Financial Business, said that the bags of rice were smuggled with local boats through the waterways, when officers from FOU zone ‘A’ swiftly intercepted the items, as shown in the pictures here.

When contacted, the Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the Unit, Comptroller Mohammed Uba confirmed the seizure, explained that FOU has stepped up patrol surveillance at the creeks and waterways within its zone, as the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC, Ali Hameed, has empowered the Unit with necessary logistics and work tools to function effectively.

He warned smugglers to desist and allow sanity in the economic environment, as Customs will continue to arrest and prosecute those sabotaging government’s effort in growing the economy.
