Encomiums : As ACG Malanta hands over Apapa Command in grand style

…Bestows awards of excellent performance on the Command’s Image Maker

It was moment of encomiums at Apapa Customs Command this morning, as ACG Malanta Ibrahim Yusuf, the out-going Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command handed over the formation to Compt Auwal Mohammed in grandstyle.

The programme, which began with parade and awards presentation to outstanding officers culminated in signing of handing over notes and the flag that stands for a symbol of authority.

The programme received the loudest applause when award of excellent performance was bestowed on the Public Relations Officer of Apapa Command, Usman Abubakar by the out-going CAC.

Malanta said the Command’s Image Maker was honoured for hard work, due diligence and the right decorum.

Speaking further while handing over to his successor, ACG Malanta stressed;  “I took over as the CAC of this Command precisely in February 10, 2021. Apapa is my home and I have dedicated myself to public service, I must continue to carry out all my assignments to the best of my ability.

“I am urging all Officers of this Command to give the same support, team work and cooperation I received to the new CAC”.

ACG Malanta urged the Officers: “Remember Apapa is a modern port, ensure you follow the procedures at all times. We have mentored, nurtured and put the right structures in place. Continue to build on those structures and do more for the service.”

Speaking further, Malanta described Compt Mohammed as experienced and dedicated Customs Officer, who believes strongly in due process.

According to him, Compt Mohammed has served Customs in various formations and has the capacity to move Apapa Command to greater heights.”

In his response, the new CAC commended ACG Malanta for his remarkable achievements in revenue collection, trade facilitation, especially export of non-oil commodities and anti-smuggling operations.

His words : “I’m inheriting a well structured Command. My desire is to sustain the tempo and even do more for the economy. All releasing Officers must ensure that no container leaves Apapa port without going through due process of scanning and thorough examination.

“Also, I’m calling on all importers and freight agents to ensure total compliance with the rules of engagement.
Ensure honest and proper declaration of their trade goods, in order to enhance seamless cargo clearance from the Port.

“I’m urging our media friends, who are equally our stakeholders to always carry out objective reportage on activities of the Command”.

More so, Senior Officers, who graced the occasion described ACG Malanta as a mentor, a team player and uncompromising boss, even as they presented him with a gift to express their gratitude.
