The Customs Area Controller, CAC, Lagos Free Trade Zone Command, Comptroller Olanrewaju Olumoh Ph.D, has achieved tremendous increase in revenue collection, as his Command realised a whopping sum of N138,179,207,744.00 approximately N138.2billion from January to July 2024.

Compt Olumoh disclosed the revenue figures during the visit of ACG Saidu Yusuf, the Zonal Coordinator of Customs in Zone ‘A’ to the Command.

The visit of ACG Yusuf to Lagos Free Trade Zone was indeed unique, as he received a red carpet reception from the Area Controller.

Speaking further, Compt Olumoh explained that the N138.2billion revenue is higher than N28billion generated the same period last year. “This is a surplus of N110.1billion, which shows 393.4 percent increase in revenue collected from last year. We are committed to improving on this performance”, he said.

The CAC pointed out : “The level of discipline among officers and men of the Command is commendable and there will be no room to compromise the tempo. The Command is doing its best in inter-agency collaboration. We have engaged in a robust working synergy with other sister agencies within the Command.

“Recently, we participated actively in supporting NDLEA during its International Drug Free Walk Day, where I declared the event open. We also participated in the decoration ceremony of other agencies, amongst other frequent engagements.”

He informed : “In line with the CGC’s efforts to ensure officers and men of the service maintain good health standards, we have opened a sickbay for easy medical attention and first aid”.

More so, Compt Olumoh highlighted the challenges facing the Command at present : His words; “It is a major concern that the Command does not have its own facility in this axis. The Command is accommodated by the management of Lagos Free Zone and we do not want to stretch them further. There is increase of officers and men posted to the Command and we do not have the facility to accommodate them.

“We humbly request the ACG to use his good office to remind the headquarters of the need for temporary accommodation and procurement of land for permanent office and barracks accommodation for the Command.

“The Lagos Free Zone Command is ready and willing to collaborate with compliant stakeholders to provide enabling environment for business to thrive in the interest of trade facilitation.

“I would like to commend the various units of the service like, C.I.U, Customs Police and Post clearance Audit Unit for their cooperation”.

In his remarks, the ACG expressed satisfaction on activities of the Command, especially in revenue collection, even as he toured the facilities within the Free Trade Zone and patiently interacted with stakeholders.
