ACG Yusuf makes historic visit to TinCan Customs Command

The events that took place on Wednesday, July 24, 2024, at TinCan Island Port Command of Nigeria Customs Service were historic, pleasant and would not be forgotten in a jiffy by officers and men of the Command.

Precisely on that Wednesday, July 24, 2024, ACG Saidu Yusuf, the Zonal Coordinator in charge of Customs in Zone ‘A’ visited TinCan Command,
approved 18 outstanding officers for commendation letters, exactly the same day, the Command boosted the federation account with N669billion revenue collection.

The working visit of ACG Saidu Yusuf to TinCan Command was in line with the vision of CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, based on constant engagements and consolidation.

The visit was most remarkable, as the excitement and nods of approval
began from the parade ground, where ACG Yusuf was warmly received by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni
and his smart looking officers.

Speaking during the visit, ACG Yusuf expressed great pleasure on achievements recorded so far by TinCan Customs Command under the leadership of Compt Nnadi.

He applauded the Command for exceptional revenue collection and mind-boggling seizures of arms, ammunition, hard drugs and other unwholesome items made to safeguard the nation’s economy and national security.

Those were not all. ACG Yusuf, who was impressed by the hard work and agility of the Command in increasing revenue collection for the Federal Government, disclosed that 18 outstanding officers were approved for commendation letters from the Zone.

The recipients included the Public Relations Officer of TinCan Command, Ngozi Okwara and 17 others, who had shown total commitment to their statutory duties.

The ACG, also commended TinCan Command for its Time Release Study, TRS, geared towards seamless cargo clearance.

Speaking further, ACG Yusuf, while commending the officers, urged them to always ensure thorough examination of cargoes and follow the right procedures. He advised the officers to remain vigilant at all times, especially in protecting the assets of the Service.

Compt Nnadi, who thanked the ACG and his team for the visit, also applauded CGC Adeniyi for his transformational leadership strategy that has taken Nigeria Customs Service to greater heights. He expressed great enthusiasm on the decision of the Zonal Coordinator to reward his officers.

He boldly informed everyone present that N669billion revenue realised as at July 24, 2024, represents more than 93 percent of the entire revenue generated by the Command in 2023, which was N716billion.

According to Compt Nnadi, TinCan Island Port Command under his watch remains focused in meeting its revenue target for 2024 fiscal year, even as he said that more freight forwarders need enlightenment, in order to embrace the use of Pre-Arrival Assessment Report
PAAR.

Compt Nnadi highlighted the importance of PAAR application in cargo clearance procedures and trade data for maritime businesses. He stressed that PAAR is very important in revenue collection for government, and remains a useful security tool Customs is using in monitoring the types of cargoes coming into the country through the seaports.

Though the visit by ACG Yusuf to TinCan Command had come and gone, the good memories and interesting moments will linger for long on the minds of officers.
