The latest news now is that Apapa Command of Nigeria Customs Service Service, NCS, has recorded over N1trillion revenue collection for the Federal Government.
Most outstanding is the fact that the Command achieved this feat in just 6 months, irrespective of the challenges facing the nation’s economy at the moment.
The astronomical revenue generation of N1trillion is unprecedented in the history of Apapa Customs Command, as the premier port.
More so, another remarkable aspect is that this impressive performance in revenue collection by Apapa premier port Command is a reflection of the excellent footprint of Comptroller Olomu Babatunde, who is constantly rigging the operational strategies of his Command to enhance efficiency.
Compt Olomu disclosed the revenue figure of N1trillion, today, Monday, July 8, 2024, during a press conference at the Command.
He also informed that the Command made several seizures during the same period under review, including frozen poultry products.
Compt Olomu attributed the success in realising a whopping sum of over N1trillion in 6months to the ingenuity of his officers, their dedication to statutory duties and sincerity of purpose.
He thanked the Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, for his support and exemplary leadership, which motivated him and his team to give their best to the Service.
He enthused : “The ingenuity of our officers and men at Apapa Command contributed to the success we recorded in revenue collection within this period under revenue.
“We thank the CGC and his management team for their support”.
Recall that few weeks ago, Compt Olomu announced a revenue collection of N17.9billion realised by Apapa Command in one day. Therefore, this record-breaking revenue of more than N1trillion in 6months is yet another milestone for Apapa premier port Command.
It is also worthy to mention that this giant stride by Compt Olomu in revenue collection for economic development is coming just two days after President Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, honoured CGC Adeniyi with Award of excellent performance in revenue collection, bestowed on him last Saturday, July 6, 2024, in Abuja.
