… Celebrates International Children’s Day in Grand Style

It was a joyous moment and fun-filled occasion at Ogun 1 Command of Nigeria Customs Service,
as Customs Officers Wives Association (COWA), gave pupils and young students special recognition as the leaders of tomorrow.

The COWA team led by its Chairperson, Princess Adeola Folu Ojo, supported by the Customs Area Controller, Ogun 1 Command, Comptroller James Ojo, celebrated International Children’s Day on 27 May 2024, in grand style, at Ogun 1 Command, Idiroko.

The programme organised by COWA was very colourful, and a well thoughtout initiative, as Princess Adeola Folu and her team gave the Children a great sense of belonging, making them to feel highly appreciated as important members of the society.

The theme of this year’s celebration was, ‘Protecting the Nigerian Child from the Dangers of Online Technology’.

The event aimed to promote the welfare and well-being of children, raise awareness about the dangers inherent in online technology, and highlight the importance of providing a safe and nurturing environment for them to thrive.

The celebration featured various activities, including children’s party, cultural dance, cutting of celebration cake, and educational sessions on child safety and development.

The association also presented prizes and educational materials to the students and pupils from the Nigeria Customs Secondary and Nursery/Primary schools in Idiroko.

In her remarks, Princess Adeola Folu Ojo emphasised the need for collective efforts to ensure the protection and empowerment of children. She commended the support of Comptroller James Ojo, and the Ogun 1 Command for their commitment to the welfare of children.

Comptroller James Ojo, in his speech, admonished the children to steer clear of cybercrime, saying, “the trend in the world today is cybercrime, what I meant to be cybercrime is those of you who go to the internet to do a lot of things like watching unhealthy movies, copying some crimes and committing yahoo fraud. All these will not lead you anywhere but path to destruction.”

In the same vein, the Principal of Nigeria Customs Secondary school, Mrs Aneke Ogochukwu, while giving vote of thanks on behalf of both schools, described the Children’s day celebration by COWA as unprecedented since the inception of the schools.

She applauded COWA for the kind gesture and solicited for more support in the future.

More so, the Customs Officers Wives Association is committed to promoting the welfare of children and supporting initiatives that will enhance their development and well-being.

The Children’s Day celebration has come and gone, but the kind gesture displayed by Princess Adeola Folu Ojo and the entire COWA team will linger for long on the minds of participants, especially the Children.
