2024 year of stakeholders’ echoes at TinCan Island Port Command
…As Compt Nnadi raises the tempo of working synergy with stakeholders 

The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of TinCan Island Port Command, Comptroller Dera Nnadi, is proactively raising the tempo of working collaboration with relevant stakeholders at TinCan Island Port. This initiative aims at optimising the Command’s productivity in trade facilitation and revenue collection for economic growth.

Compt Nnadi reaffirmed his commitment to keep 2024, the year of stakeholders at TinCan Command, with another strategic engagement, which paved the way for eye-to-eye interaction with stakeholders from various maritime associations.

The strategic meeting, which took place on Thursday, May 23, 2024, created ample opportunity for Compt Nnadi, fondly called the Action CAC to interact extensively with executive members from Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), African Association of Professional Freight Forwarders and Logistics of Nigeria (APFFLON), freight agents, importers and other relevant stakeholders doing business at TinCan Port.

The meeting, which was a huge success, started with a review of activities at the Command, dovetailed into ensuring total compliance with the rules of engagement and making TinCan Port outstanding in seamless cargo clearance.

Recall that Compt Nnadi had earlier declared 2024, as the year of stakeholders, in recognition of the critical role of stakeholders in boosting revenue collection at TinCan Port with increase in cargo throughput.

More so, 2024 declaration as year of stakeholders came, even as the Command under the leadership of Dera Nnadi raked in over N303. 9 billion revenue in the first quarter of 2024.

This revenue figure represents 139% increase when compared to the same period in 2023, amounting to a N177 billion increase.

In his remarks, Comptroller Nnadi informed reporters that the stakeholders’ engagement was an important meeting to
commend freight forwarders, who are major stakeholders of the Command, also to collectively look at new government policies, taking into cognisance constant changes in such policies in the regulatory framework within the port environment.

According to him, continuous engagement becomes imperative for the Command and stakeholders to operate in line with the policies of government, in order to promote seamless cargo clearance and trade facilitation for tangible economic prosperity.
