Humility in public office : CGC Adeniyi hosts his former boss Mustapha

He is intelligent but humbled ! Highly skilled in the job but unassuming ! Embedded in his extraordinary height are not only innovative ideas to move the Service forward but the knowledge to demonstrate unity of purpose and humility in carrying out his statutory duties.

The Comptroller-General of Customs, CGC Adewale Adeniyi MFR, displayed great humility in hosting the former CGC, Ahmed Mustapha, at Customs headquarters, in Abuja.

Former CGC Mustapha, who served from 1999 to 2004, expressed his heartfelt gratitude and admiration for the extensive changes and advancements the service has achieved since he left office.

During the visit, Mustapha said, “I am deeply impressed by the transformations that have taken place within the Nigeria Customs Service since I left office in 2004.

“The advancements in technology, infrastructure and overall efficiency are commendable. These reflect the dedication of the current leadership and staff.”

More so, CGC Adewale Adeniyi warmly welcomed the retired CGC and appreciated his visit.

He enthused : “It is an honour to receive former CGC Ahmed Mustapha today. His contributions laid a solid foundation for the progress we are building upon. I am grateful that he found the time to visit and see firsthand the developments at the NCS headquarters.”

Adeniyi also requested the management team to join in the pleasure of hosting Mustapha, stressing the importance of recognising the efforts of past leaders in shaping the future of the service.

He added : “We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us. Their legacy and hard work have paved the way for the innovations and improvements we are implementing today.”

The visit followed a tour of the headquarters, where Mustapha was shown the latest technological advancements of the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR) centre that are enhancing efficiency and effectiveness of the NCS.

The meeting concluded with both leaders emphasising the importance of continuity and sharing of knowledge across different eras of leadership.
