Customs Officers Wives Association Ogun 1 Command putting smiles on the faces of widows, orphans, less privileged

It was a joyous occasion with pleasant memories at Ogun 1 Customs Command, Idiroko, as Customs Officers Wives Association, COWA, Ogun 1 chapter distributed food items to widows, orphans and the less privileged, putting smiles on their faces.

The kind gesture, which brought tremendous happiness to the beneficiaries, was displayed by COWA in commemoration of the recent International Women’s Day (IWD) celebration.

Precisely, the distribution of food items by COWA, Ogun 1 chapter, took place on March 13, 2024. On that special occasion, COWA celebrated their members and other women in the community by distributing food items to the less privileged. The items given out included rice, noodles and beverages.

The exercise was orderly and well organised, as the association commenced its celebration at the Command’s headquarters Idiroko, by meeting the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Ahmadu Shuaibu and his management team.

The acting Chairperson, Mrs Grace Adeola Ogunesan, informed the CAC about the assembled food items meant to be given out as palliatives to widows, orphans and the less privileged, to mark IWD celebrations. She appreciated the fatherly support of the CAC in securing the items.

The Area Controller, appreciated the visit by COWA and commended their initiative in showing love to fellow citizens, especially the less privileged.

Compt Shauibu emphasised that the kind gesture and loving consideration by COWA were conceived in the nick of time required to cushion the effects of the present economic challenges facing the country. He urged them to ensure continuity of such a unique programme.

More so, the CAC applauded the initiative and thoughtfulness of COWA in helping indigent ones. He expressed great pleasure about what COWA is doing to assist others, even as he joined the association in a group photograph taken before the commencement of items distribution.

Thus, the exercise took an interesting dimension, as beneficiaries of the palliatives expressed gratitude to the association for deeming it fit to reach out to them. Among the beneficiaries were Wives of late officers, who died in active service.

In reality, the distribution of food items by COWA at Idiroko had come and gone, but the love, kindness and good memories brought by that special programme will linger for a long time on the minds of beneficiaries, especially widows and orphans who are the most vulnerable ones in the society.
