We can do it. We are ready to deliver. Nobody should be afraid”, these were the words of Comptroller Dera Nnadi mni, the Customs Area Controller, CAC, of TinCan Island Port Command,when he unveiled a revenue target of N1.130 trillion given to his Command in 2024.

Compt Nnadi made these assertions about two months ago, with so much tenacity, doggedness and determination to work assiduously in generating revenue for the Federal Government to run the economy.

At present, Dera Nnadi is already walking the talk, with a huge sum of N100billion generated into the federation account by his Command in February 2024.

Compt Nnadi, while addressing women in the maritime industry yesterday, during International Women’s Day, said that the Command collected N100billion in February 2024, surpassing its N94billion alloted target.

Compt Nnadi acknowledged the hard work and resilience of female officers occupying various departments at TinCan Port, which contributed to tremendous increase in revenue collection for government.

He promised to work tirelessly in tandem with the vision of the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, to support economic growth and development.

His words : “We recognise the role of women in the industry, because this industry cannot survive without the hard work and support of women.

“We appreciate the contributions of our female officers heading different terminals at TinCan Command. Women are the strongest advocates of economic growth not only in Nigeria but all over the world.

“For instance, at TinCan Command, our revenue target for February 2024 was N94billion but we realised N100billion due to the resilience of our officers, especially women, who are doing their best in moving the Command forward and the nation’s economy at large “.

The International Women’s Day, with the theme, ‘Invest in women; accelerate progress’ brought women from all walks of life to TinCan Command.

The programme was the best of its kind. Among those in attendance were Mrs Catherine Kaycee Ekekezie, Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, retired; Mrs Dera, Nnadi, the Chairperson of COWA, TinCan chapter, women from ANLCA, NAGAFF, DSS, Standards Organisation of Nigeria, women in maritime media and other organisations.

Speaking further, Compt Nnadi extolled the good qualities of women in the maritime industry, including female Customs officers and their tangible contributions to national development.
