…As Compt Nnadi remains resolute to collect N1.130 trn for Federal government

The TinCan Island Port Command of Nigeria Customs Service, has made remarkable performance in trade facilitation, as the Command recorded 623,694.7metric tons of export with Free on Board (FOB) value of N489.2billion in 2023.

After generating a whopping sum of N716.5billion revenue in 2023,
the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of TinCan Command, Compt Dera Nnadi mni, remains resolute, purposeful, tenacious and determined to collect N1.130 trillion for the Federal Government in 2024, which is the current revenue target for the Command.

Our correspondent observed his tenacity during the press conference on Tuesday, when he declared authoritatively with so much boldness that he is ready to deliver on the N1.130 trillion revenue target, to enhance economic prosperity of the Nigerian nation.

Giving more details on the 623,694.7metric tons of export trade at TinCan Port, the CAC informed;
“This is an impressive growth with a notable increase of 85.5 percent in tonnage and 101.9 percent increase in FOB Value, when compared to 2022.

“The products exported through the Command in the year under review include; Agricultural Products like Cocoa Beans, cashew Nuts, Sesame seeds, Soya Beans and Hibiscus Flower. Locally Manufactured Goods like Cosmetics, Hair Attachments, Indomie Noodles, Beverages and Insecticides.

“Others were Mineral Resources such as Lithium Ore, Tin Ore, Fluorite Ore, Aluminium Ingots and Lead Ingots;
goods previously imported after the payment of 2.5 percent levy on the current value of the goods with government permission. Other exports like Charcoal, Personal Effects, Items for Repair and Return.”

He emphasised;  “The Command continues to provide a conducive environment for trade through engagement and collaboration with relevant stakeholders, as well as regulatory agencies of Government.

“The Command had several meetings with stakeholders in 2023; meeting with fast track beneficiaries in the Command, addressing their challenges and opportunities for growth; engagements with NPA and Terminal Operators on the need to decongest the port corridors for free flow of import laden containers.

“Collaboration of the Command with terminal operators on schedule and modalities on overtime clearance of cargoes in TCIP. The shipping lines in TCIP are constantly inundated on the need to guide their NICIS access as incidence of fraudulent/double transmission of bill ladings has become too prevalent in recent times.
Regular meetings with compliant and high net worth stakeholders like Crown Flour, Promasidor Nig Ltd, Hurlag Nig ltd and BUA.

“The Command encourages their businesses and proffer avenues for improvements in areas they need help. The Command is in relationship with Journalists, men of the press and other relevant associations who help our port operations.

“Additionally, the dispute settlement structure of the Command aligns with the provisions of import duty mechanism outlined in paragraph (H) subparagraph (8) of the Import Guidelines, Procedure and Documentation Requirements, which allows an importer to take delivery of his cargo in the case of persistent dispute after securing a bank bond, the total duties and taxes payable on the item being disputed”.

Compt Nnadi pointed out; “In the year under review, The Bond Seat executed 29 General Bonds valued at N1,450,000,000.00. The Command recorded a total of 46 fast track renewals, 362 license renewals, 1655 Form C30 applications, 2 Repair and Return valued at N14,888,406.25, 2 Transits valued at N2,700,000.00, 8 Cancelled Bonds valued at N450,219,703.82and 7 Temporary Importation Permits, which were executed with approval from headquarters with a total value of N1,247,046,893.87. A total of 8,079Transires were registered in 2023, out of which 481 were recorded as Free Trade Zone Transires.”

With this outstanding performance, it is clear that Compt Nnadi will continue to make the Service proud, even as TinCan Command becomes excellent ground for brilliant officers.
