Customs conference : All roads lead to Lagos Continental Hotel

The Grand African Ballroom, Continental Hotel, Lagos, will be the beehive of activities on Thursday, December 14, 2023, as plans are on top gear for this year Comptroller-General of Customs conference.

The much talked-about Conference has a theme; ‘Leveraging data analytics for secure and efficient trade facilitation on Customs operations’.

Recall that the current Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, resuscitated the Conference 8 years after it was abolished by his predecessor. This laudable initiative has attracted commendations from maritime stakeholders, even among Customs officers who are highly pleased by CGC Adeniyi’s leadership acumen.

Details reaching our news platform revealed that the conference will be an epoch making event, as the number one citizen, the President and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Federal Republic of Nigeria, Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, is expected to declare the programme open, as the Special Guest of Honour.

Also, Vice President Kashim Shettima will attend the conference as a special guest, even as the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo- Olu is equally expected at the programme.

More so, Customs Area Controllers (CACs) of various Commands are expected to grace the occasion, as well as Minister of Finance and maritime stakeholders.

The conference slated for 10am on Thursday December 14, will continue on December 15, 2023 with paper presentations, speeches and discussions on measures to enhance efficient Customs operations across the nation.

This, according to the Comptroller General of Customs, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, is in
tandem with the management’s strategy in modernising Customs procedures using technology-driven approach for greater efficiency.

His assertions : “We are embracing innovation, utilising the power of analytics to ensure the security and efficiency of Customs Operations.

“This significant conference will focus on discussion for implementing new measures to enhance Customs operations, championing secure and efficient operations across the federation.
