To say that the Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command (KLTC), Nigeria Customs Service is witnessing a transformational revolution at the moment is simply stating the obvious fact.

Our Correspondent observed this rapid transformation yesterday, during a working visit by Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN) to the Command.

Our team drove through from Mile2-Apapa major road linking the seaport to KLTC without any hindrance. The same road to KLTC that was only accessible by motorcycles (popularly known as okada) previously.

In fact, it was a pleasant surprise yesterday on the way to KLTC, as our team couldn’t hold back from showering encomiums on the person behind this great transformation.

On getting to the main premises of  KLT Customs Command, it was yet another great discovery, as our team realised that the administrator behind this laudable initiative is no other person than the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command, Compt. Tilley-Gyado, a woman on the leadership saddle of KLTC.

Recall that before now, the KLT Customs Command was seriously impeded by traffic gridlock blocking Vehicular movement in and out of the Command.

Meaning that Customs officers had only one choice, riding on motorcycles to their office with all the associated hazards. When Tilley-Gyado came on board, she quickly solved this puzzle by collaborating with all Security Agencies managing traffic on that axis.

The result is that officers and men of the Command, Freight Forwarders, as well as other visitors to the Command can now conveniently drive on one side of the lane to KLT Command.

This is one of the many reasons KLT Command is witnessing a transformational revolution, championed by no other person than Compt.Tilley-Gyado Gyado herself.

That was not all. During interactive session with MAJAN members, the Area Controller revealed that KLTC has realised a huge sum of N48billion as revenue generation for the Federal Government.

According to her, the Command was given a revenue target of N62billion. Compt Tilley-Gyado emphasised that her team is working hard with unity of purpose to improve on what the Command has collected so far.
