Die-hard smugglers strike again, kill 2 Customs officers in Kebbi

Customs patrol vehicles shattered by smugglers during attack
The news reaching our online platform reveals that die-hard smugglers sabotaging the nation’s economy have killed two Customs officers in Kebbi.

The officers who died in active service of their fatherland were violently attacked and killed while carrying out their statutory duties.

A press statement released on the sad news by the Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Kebbi Area Command,
DR. BEN ORAMALUGO, reads; “On a sad note, while we continue to give smugglers of drugs and other harmful items a bloody nose; we unfortunately lost two of our fine and hard working officers in the line of duty.

“The sad incident occurred on August 24, 2023 at about 0128hrs, when officers were working based on intelligence of impending smuggling of drugs along Bunza- Koko- Dakingari road. May their gentle souls rest in peace.

“This sad incident, although regrettable, will not deter us or dampen the morale of officers and men of the Command.

“We shall continue to double our effort and work in synergy with all relevant agencies, in order to stem the menace of drugs smuggling in the state”.

This killing of officers in Kebbi is coming at the same time smugglers attacked a Customs office in Katsina and inflicted life-threatening injuries on him. Recall that the former Customs Boss, Col Hameed Ali, in 2019 openly said that more than 200 officers lose their lives to smugglers yearly while on national assignment.
Ali spoke at a meeting organised by Central Bank of Nigeria with the Service Chiefs and heads of paramilitary organisations.
