Customs Boss applauds Lagos Industrial Command on revenue drive

“I want to start by saluting your efforts. I am proud of your step because of the increased revenue. I want to ask you to be more passionate about your job and infect others with a passion for optimal service delivery.

“I assure you that there will be more openness. If there is need to have a better-organised forum for good service delivery, we won’t hesitate to do so. I want the stakeholders to know that for every responsibility, there is an obligation. That is for us to have an excellent understanding of our legal framework.”

The statements above were the exact words of the Comptroller General of Nigeria Customs Service, CGC Bashir Adewale Adeniyi MFR, during his visit to Lagos Industrial Command, as part of his working tour of Customs Commands in Zone ‘A’.

The CGC, who received a warm reception at the Command, applauded the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Compt Queen Ogbudu and her team for remarkable performance in revenue collection for the Federal Government.

Also, the CGC had a brief discussion with the Area Controller, the officers and excise stakeholders, who were on ground to welcome CGC Adeniyi.

That was not all. Earlier, the Customs Boss visited Ikorodu Lighter Terminal, where he inspected the Government Warehouse and the facilities in the terminal.

During the visit, the CGC was received by the officer in charge of the Warehouse, Deputy Comptroller, DC Willy Ukpabio, representatives of Nigerian Port Authority (NPA),
as well as other terminal operators.

The CGC’s visit came in the nick of time, as he patiently listened to all issues raised about the condition of the Warehouse, which included flooding that disrupts smooth operations and ceding out part of the Warehouse to private bonded terminals.

In his response, CGC Adeniyi assured the operators of Government’s readiness to put measures in place to address the challenges, urging all officers and terminal operators to remain positive and committed in carrying out their duties.
