It was a moment of encomiums at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, as Vice President, Kashim Shettima, decorated the Acting Comptroller-General of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), CG Adewale Bashir Adeniyi in grand style.
The appointment of CG Adeniyi was announced by the Federal Government on June 19, 2023.
Since then, maritime stakeholders have applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing a career Officer, who has the expertise and wealth of experience to reposition the Service for greater efficiency.
While some stakeholders described the appointment of CG Adeniyi as a round peg, in a round hole; others said he is the best Man for the job, following his track record, outstanding performance in various positions he served and integrity in public office.
More so, to Customs officers themselves, it is new dawn for the Service.
