Customs at Seme Command dismantles checkpoints along border road

As Compt Nnadi harps on trade facilitation

The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Seme Border Command, Compt Dera Nnadi mni, has dismantled some checkpoints along the busy Seme border road, thereby, reducing the number of checkpoints on that corridor.

Our correspondent gathered that Compt Nnadi, who is known to be a no-nonsense Customs officer, carried out the action, in order to enhance seamless movement of cargoes and trade facilitation for optimum economic growth.

The pulling down of some checkpoints along Seme axis, which is the busiest border in the sub-region is in fulfilment of the promise made earlier by Compt Nnadi, to reduce the number of checkpoints along that road.

Our correspondent while on official assignment along Seme axis, today, Friday, June 16, 2023, observed that some checkpoints had been completed pulled down, even as motorists were already applauding Nigeria Customs Service on what they described as a laudable initiative.

Some of the affected checkpoints include the one located very close to Gbaji bridge, Anti bunkering Unit at Gbaji and other locations.

Also, work is still on-going to find out other affected points.

To maritime stakeholders, the doggedness by Compt Nnadi to remove some checkpoints along Seme border corridor is highly commendable, as they had earlier
expressed their displeasure about multiple checkpoints along Seme border road.

More so, to stakeholders, this giant stride by Compt Nnadi in reducing checkpoints along Seme corridor is a remarkable achievement by Customs, especially at a time the Federal Government is putting measures in place to rejuvenate the nation’s economy for greater productivity.
