…As Compt Yusuf facilitates N4.8bn exports, makes N1.8bn seizures
The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of Murtala Mohammed Airport Command, MMAC, Compt MOHAMMED SANNI YUSUF, has boosted the federation account with a whopping sum of N21.4billion.
The N21,362,752,676.44, approximately N21.4billion collected
in the first quarter of 2023, shows an increase of N3.8billion, with percentage difference of 21.97,
when compared to N17.5billion generated the same period in 2022.
Addressing Journalists during a press conference, Compt Sanni Yusuf informed : “It is worthy to note that the revenue activities of the Command comprise importation and exportation of legitimate goods under ECOWAS Trade Liberalisation Scheme (ETLS)”.
On anti-smuggling drive, the Command also made remarkable performance, with a total seizure of 23 packages of pharmaceutical products. The seized items include 22 packages of Tramadol (225mg); 12 packages of Tramadol (120mg) Tablets.
The CAC said : “The Tramadol Tablets in our custody have been scheduled for handing over to the Commander of Narcotics, Murtala Muhammed Airport Command of National Drug Law and Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) during this press briefing in the spirit of inter-departmental cooperation.
“This will further strengthen our collaboration in safeguarding our youths from the use of harmful substance, which could endanger their lives and the environment.
“We shall intensify more efforts in making our communities a safer place for all of us to live.”
He went on : “The above seizures were recorded based on intelligence – driven operations within the Airport. The total Duty Paid Value (DPV) of the seizures stood at N1,792,352,832.26, approximately N1.8billion.”
On export trade, within the period
under review, the Command facilitated N100.9million worth of exports. These exported goods included non-commercial and commercial Foods with a total weight of 653 tons and Free On Board (FOB) value of N4.8billion.
He added : “The Command is working hard to promote export businesses to boost Forex earnings for the country”.
“On stakeholders’ engagement,
the Command maintains an open-door policy and has resolved a lot of issues of common interest with concerned stakeholders.
“At this juncture, let me appreciate our esteemed partners in the clearance value chain for their unwavering support and also encourage them to always brace up to the emerging challenges, as we work together to move the Nation forward.”
