Compt Wada bringing fresh impetus, intelligence to bear in Customs operations

…Collects N28.5bn in Port Harcourt Command

With a whopping sum of over N28.5billion revenue collected for the Federal Government in just three months, it’s quite obvious that Compt Chedi Wada is bringing fresh impetus and intelligence to bear in Customs Operations, at Port Harcourt Area I Command.

Compt Wada, who is the new Customs Area Controller of the Command, also recorded 119 interventions within the same period under review, January to March 2023. The interventions
led to N582.6million being recovered, as against the previous year 2022, when N373.8million was recorded from 91 interventions.

Comparatively, the N28.5billion realised in first quarter of 2023, shows a difference of N5.4 billion, from N23.1billlion generated the same period in year 2022, which represents 23 percent increase.

Addressing Journalists during a press conference in Port Harcourt, Compt Wada said ; “I want to use this opportunity to thank all sister agencies and other stakeholders for their support and to implore traders, as well as stakeholders in general to adhere to Customs Procedures.

“However, I will not fail to recognise the relentless effort of all officers and men of the Command, including the Units from Headquarters serving at the Command towards this achievement.

“Finally, I want to thank CGC Hameed AIi and his management team for their magnanimous support that has translated to the improvements recorded in Port Harcourt Area I Command”.

Recall that Compt Wada, who is highly skilled in Customs operations, was posted to Port Harcourt Command from Katsina State, where he made remarkable feats in anti-smuggling drive. His excellent footprint at Katsina Command, especially the monthly press conference, where mind-boggling seizures were often shown are all in the records.
