Brilliant performance :  Customs in Katsina State hits10,827.40metric tons of exports

Only few weeks after an impressive performance in export trade facilitation worth millions of Naira, Customs in Katsina State has recorded 10,827.40metric tons of exports, with Free On Board (FoB) value of N538,406,126.45.

Katsina State Command under the leadership of Compt Wada Chedi, as the Customs Area Controller (CAC), also boosted the Federation Account with N99,777,343.00 revenue in the month of July, 2022.

This brilliant performance is achieved in just one month despite incessant attacks by bandits along Jibia axis of Katsina State.

Those were not all. Compt Wada brought fresh impetus and ingenuity to bear in his area of responsibility, as the Command made seizures worth over N73,675,024.00 (approximately N73.7million in Duty Paid Value (DPV) within the same period under review.

Seizures made by the Command in July 2022 :

Speaking during a press conference at the Command, Compt Wada displayed seizures made in July 2022, which include one DAF truck with registration number GS888LND worth N5,805,000.00; one used IVECO truck with registration number GWA789XA worth N5,130,000.00; Used NISSAN Bus with DPV of N877,500.00 and Used Lencia Bus worth N1,350,000.00.

Others include used Peugeot 406 worth N1,282,500.00; WAGON Gold-3 saloon worth N945,000.00; GOLF-3 Wagon worth N1,282,500.00; one DAF trailer valued at N9,450,000.00; trailer of scrap metal valued at N5,250,000.00; another truck with DPV of N6,075,000.00; grader catapiler worth 8,100,000.00; making a total of N45,551,500.00.

Other seizures include one used motorcycles worth N60,000.00; 447 bags of foreign rice worth N12,292,500.00; 337 cartons of foreign spaghetti worth 2,022,000.00; 32 cartons of macaroni valued at N192,000.00; 115 jerrycans of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol; worth N521,812.00; 89 jerrycans of AGO worth N1,705,462.00;

Six bags of foreign flour ( 50kg each), worth N178,000.00; 120 bags of flour (25kg each) valued at N1,782,000.00; seven cartons of foreign milky creamer milk valued at N141,750.00; eight bags of foreign milky creamer valued at N648,000.00; 450 bags of potash valued at N1,890,000.00; 13 bags of tiger nuts- 100kg worth N390,000.00 and 1,000 pieces of hide and skin valued at N6,300,000.00, making total DPV of N28,123,524.00. The grand total is N73.7million.

OBSERVATION :
Our correspondent observed that Katsina Area Command under the leadership of Compt Wada has been really outstanding in anti-smuggling drive and other core functions of the Service.

Compt Wada and his enforcement officers have been dogged, tenacious and uncompromising in carrying out their Statutory functions, such that even incessant attacks by bandits cannot deter them.

The exemplary leadership of Compt Wada has brought commendation not only to Katsina Command but the entire Customs Service. Many stakeholders often describe him as enforcement guru, right from his days at Seme border Command. Every unit he serves, Compt Wada displays sterling qualities with remarkable records of achievement.
