Customs in Kaduna strikes again :

The Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘B’ of Nigeria Customs
Service, Kaduna, has increased its tempo in anti-smuggling operations, as the Unit made seizures worth over N236.8million in Duty Paid Value (DPV).

Comptroller Albashir Hamisu psc(+), who is in charge of the Unit, disclosed this to newsmen during press briefing in Kaduna.

Compt Hamisu, explained that the Unit in its sustained anti-smuggling network recorded 105 seizures worth N236.8million at various locations within the Zone, from April to  June 2022.

He informed :
“Prominent among the seized items include 124 cartons of unregistered pharmaceutical products and 273 gallons of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), commonly known as petrol.

“Other items were 177 bales of second-hand clothes; 282 cartons of foreign Spaghetti and Macaroni; 73 used tyres, 52 bundles of foreign textiles materials; 882 bags of foreign parboiled rice; 11 units of vehicles and other prohibited items “.

In the same vein, Compt. Hamisu received commendation from Sports Writers Association of Nigeria, Kaduna State Chapter, in appreciation for the Comptroller’s show of sportsmanship.

Compt Hamisu, who has been consistent in anti-smuggling drive in FOU Zone ‘B’ for the past months, attributed the feats recorded by the Unit to improved capacity.

This, he said, is as a result of logistics and support received from Customs headquarter, inter-agency collaboration and timely intelligence sharing among sister agencies, as well as information received from some patriotic Nigerians.

Speaking further, he assured that his Unit remains totally committed to protecting its area of responsibility from illicit trade.
