How Customs is carrying out Corporate Social Responsibility at border communities – DC Timi Bomodi

The new National Public Relations Officer of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), DC Timi Bomodi has said that the Service is carrying out its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) through provision of social amenities for border communities across the country.

The new Customs Image Maker, who just assumed duties, spoke in response to a question raised on Customs/media platform on what the Service is doing in terms of CSR.

His explanation :
“Indeed, the NCS does have a policy for stakeholders engagement in all our areas of operation. NCS has helped numerous border communities with rehabilitation of schools, provision of clean drinking water, and providing access to quality healthcare.”

DC Bomodi pointed out :
“However, our desire to positively impact these communities is greatly constrained by our limited budget. Besides, there exists an agency set up by government to specifically address the needs of these communities.”

He added :
“The Border Communities Development Agency has the sole responsibility of attending to their needs. While NCS focusses on its core duties, which incidentally generates the revenues needed for these agencies to function, it also from time to time creates opportunities for cordial interactions like the recent art competition for secondary school students in Ogun state.”

His assertions :
“We are investing in building warm and friendly relationships with dwellers of border communities. We appreciate the positive role these citizens can play in fighting smuggling and other cross border crimes.

” This is why NCS is committed to winning their hearts and minds. We do what we can, with the little we have and hope for the best.”
