Compt Jibo and his team showing the seized Petrol :

The Customs Area Controller (CAC), Seme Border Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Compt. Bello Mohammed Jibo and his men have defeated petrol smugglers at the creeks within Seme border using superior Intelligence.

This led to the seizure of
31,500 litres of petrol, which would have been smuggled outside the country through the border, if not for the swift intervention of Compt Jibo and his vigilant operatives.

This spectacular seizure shows vigilance and doggedness by Seme Command in protecting the nation’s economy from illicit traders and saboteurs.

In a press statement made available to our Correspondent through the Public Relations Officer of the Command,
DSC HUSSAINI ABDULLAHI, the Area Controller said :
“Owing to determination and commitment of Nigeria Customs Service in suppressing the activities of daredevil smugglers to the barest minimum across the Country, officers and men of Seme Area Command on December 1, 2021, intercepted large quantities of items suspected to be Premium Motor Spirit in sacks along the creeks and beaches within Seme and Badagry axis.

“Upon examination, one thousand and fifty *(1050) jerrycans of 30litres each of petrol equivalent to thirty one thousand, five hundred (31,500)* litres were discovered. The duty paid value (DPV) is N5,393,902.00 (approximately N5.4million).”

Compt Jibo pointed out :
“The unfortunate scenario is that apart from sabotaging the efforts of Government that is paying huge amount of money to subsidize the products for the benefit of Nigerians, smuggling of petrol also poses threat to their own lives because most times vehicles are burnt when accident occurs.”

Commenting on the giant strides achieved by the Command, the CAC emphasised the commitment of officers and men of the Command to continue the fight against smugglers and their accomplices with increased tempo at all times.

In the same vein, the CAC commended CGC Hameed Ibrahim Ali and the Management team for Logistics support by providing the Command with Four (4) Hilux vehicles to boost its operations.

The CAC reiterated :
“Customs will continue to enforce Federal Government policies with a view to suppressing smuggling and ensuring collection of appropriate revenue, as well as facilitation of legitimate trade for economic growth and development.”

Our news inquest revealed that apart from the latest seizure of smuggled Petrol, Compt Jibo and his team are working tirelessly to curb illicit trade at the border area of Seme.
