FG opens discussion with Greek investors to rejuvenate transport sector

In line with its policy to rejuvenate the transport sector of Nigeria’s economy, the Federal Government is holding fresh discussion with top businesses in Greece.

The discussion focuses on efforts by government to boost influx of
Foreign Direct Investments into the transport and allied sectors of the economy.

In that capacity, the Nigerian Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi led a team of Chief Executives of parastatals under his Ministry to the 2021 Greek-Nigeria Chamber of Commerce & Technology (GNCCT) and Investment Summit, which took place
in Athens on 29 -30 November, 2021.

The Minister’s delegation include Mohammed Bello-Koko, Acting Managing Director of Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA), Dr Bashir Jamoh, Director General, Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Bank of Industry, Olukayode Pitan and Acting CEO of Nigerian Investment Promotion Council, Emeka Offor.

Also, the Nigerian Ambassador to Greece, H.E Opunimi Akinkugbe and Country’s Ambassador to Germany, H.E Yusuf Maitama Tuggar, were among top government functionaries at the summit.

The Athens investment summit highlighted the need to discover high net worth investments in maritime transport, aquaculture, circular economy, education and manufacturing.
The meeting called for increased collaboration between Greece and Nigerian businesses, including relaxing restrictions on travel and trade.

The Greek-Nigeria Chamber of Commerce & Technology (GNCCT) was founded in 1999, to promote bilateral business and investment activities between Greek and Nigerian private sector. The non-profit organisation provides information, networking opportunities and other services to its members.
