ACP Dikwa scores NAGAFF high on discipline, commitment to port industry development
* As Dr Aniebonam tasks Area B Police boss on indiscriminate interception of containers outside the port
The Assistant Commissioner of Police – ACP Umar Dikwa, newly deployed to Area B Command, Apapa, has scored National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), high on discipline and the right decorum in carrying out their businesses at the port.
He also commended NAGAFF members for their commitments to port industry development in Nigeria,.
The Area B Police boss made these commendations during his working visit to NAGAFF headquarters at Apapa, Lagos.
He stated categorically that no member of NAGAFF has been found wanting since he assumed office at Apapa.
“I am glad to say that since the past three months l assumed my duty post, l have handled so many cases about other clearing agents but l have never seen any case file connecting to NAGAFF members. This shows that NAGAFF is a responsible association.”
Speaking further, Dikwa gave NAGAFF kudos for discipline among its members, while appealing to the association, to maintain its good records and reputation in the industry, even as he
said that his doors are always open for discussion when need be.
In his brief remarks, the Founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, urged the Area Commander to address incessant cases of indiscriminate interception of containers already cleared from the port by his operatives.
Dr. Aniebonam said;
“There are reported cases of indiscriminate interception of containers outside the port by Police Men, especially imported vehicles already cleared in side the port and extortion going on”.
Dr Aniebonam, who commended Dikwa for doing a good job, said the Almighty God will promote him to the level of Commissioner of Police (CP), before retirement.
Going memory lane, the NAGAFF Founder recalled the working visit
by the Inspector General of Police – IGP Usman Alkali, who was at NAGAFF headquarters few years back and thereafter got promoted to IGP.
Also speaking, the new President of NAGAFF, Chief Tochukwu Ezisi, assured the Area Commander of the readiness by his members to maintain their cordial working relationship with his Command.
Chief Ezisi expressed appreciation for the visit, describing it as a welcome initiative.
