Customs to get 46 new operational vehicles :
As FEC approves N1.5bn for procurement

Apparently, the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), is poised for greater productivity, in its statutory duties, as the Federal Executive Council (FEC), has approved a whopping sum of N1.5 billion for the procurement of 46 operational vehicles.

The Minister of State for Budget and National Planning, Mr Clement Agba, made this known, after the Council meeting, presided over by Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo, yesterday.

According to him, “The Council approved the procurement of 46 units of vehicles for operational and administrative use for the Service”.

He added : “This is awarded to Messrs; Elizade Nigeria Limited, at a total cost of N1,554,200,000, which includes 7.5 percent Value Added Tax (VAT).

“Recall that the last set of procurement of operational vehicles for Customs was done in 2017 and 2020.
In 2020, we saw the huge seizures made by Customs, as well as revenue collection for the Federal Government.”

He enthused :
“Also, looking at the records from January 2021 till August, and the target given to Customs, it shows that the Service has over performed”.
