Bandits attack on rail track :
FG steps up security surveillance on Abuja/Kaduna highway

* As Military takes over patrol

President Buhari :

The Federal Government has stepped up security surveillance on Abuja/Kaduna highway to curb incessant cases of bandits attack and robbery on the area.

This is sequel to the attack on Abuja/Kaduna rail track by suspected bandits.

Our Correspondent gathered that government has directed the Military to take over security patrol of Abuja/Kaduna highway, which is a very busy route.

The new directive becomes imperative not only to monitor the rail track but to prevent robbery, abduction of travelers, as well as other motorists plying that busy route always.

The new patrol team comprises of operatives from Nigerian Army, Air Force and the Navy, with a task to thwart nefarious activities of criminal elements and ensure safety
of travelers, as well as legitimate traders plying the route daily.

In the same vein, the Director of Army Public Relations, Brigadier General Onyema Nwachuku, explained that the latest development aims at curbing activities of bandits and other criminal elements causing problem on that route.

He stressed that cases of attacks and kidnapping of innocent citizens plying Abuja/Kaduna highway have reduced drastically, following Military presence on the highway.

According to him, the Patrol team is making tremendous impact, even as bandits are being arrested along the road to serve as deterrent to other criminal groups.
