Customs at Ondo-Ekiti Command rakes in N27.9million

Revenue collection :

The Ondo/Ekiti Area Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has recorded remarkable increase in revenue collection for the Federal Government, with N27.9million realised in the months of July and August 2021.

The sum of N27.9 million made is greater than N19.6 million recorded the same months in 2020, which shows an increase of N8.2 million additional revenue collection.

Most remarkably, this tremendous revenue collection is realised despite the fact that Ondo/Ekiti Command is a landlocked area, with neither seaport nor international airport or any international border.

Our news inquest revealed that the current Customs Area Controller (CAC), of the Command, Compt. H. U. Ngozi, is the strategist behind this astronomical revenue collection at a landlocked Command like Ondo/Ekiti.

Available record shows that the Command received a big boost in revenue recovery the moment she assumed duty on July 5, 2021, as the CAC. She worked tirelessly to increase the revenue profile of the Command through appraisal of Demand Notices (DN) on vehicles with duty infringement. The Command also collected duty from Parcel Post and Excise.

Export trade :
Aside revenue collection, Compt Ngozi also brought fresh impetus to bear in export drive, which is important sector government is giving attention to diversify the economy for greater growth.

Compt Ngozi worked assiduously with her team to supervise export of cocoa bean. For instance, from January to August 2021, the Command supervised exportation of 2,233 containers of cocoa bean.

Managerial expertise
Apart from operational competence in carrying out core Customs functions of trade facilitation, revenue generation and anti-smuggling drive, other sterling qualities that stand Compt Ngozi out are her managerial expertise and ingenuity in administration.
Every Command she works, she makes the Service proud by putting a mark of excellence.
For instance, Compt Ngozi has given Ondo-Ekiti formation a face-lift, such that the Command now wears a new and befitting look.

She embarked on renovation of the Command, painting, structural replacement of some falling parts of administrative blocks, quarter guard, the entrance gate, Mosque
Chapel and other departments.
The Command now is a complete make over.
Compt Ngozi is replicating what she did at Oyo-Osun formation in Ondo-Ekiti, which makes it appear like a classic corporate entity.

She is already transforming Ondo-Ekiti formation, just the
same way she did at Oyo-Osun Command.
People who visited Ondo-Ekiti Command last year, may not know the place again now, as the entire Command now wears a new and decent look.

Inter-agency synergy :
Accordingly, the CAC is maintaining a cordial working synergy with other sister agencies.
On assumption of office, she made it a call-to-duty, to pay courtesy visits to all sister Security Agencies in Ondo and Ekiti States.
