Police arrests suspect with AK-47, 340 rounds of live ammunition concealed in bag of garri

The news reaching our platform now reveals that the Police Command in Delta State, has arrested Mr Solomon Ebe, over alleged possession of 340 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition concealed in bag of garri.

The suspect deliberately concealed the ammunition in bag of garri, in order to escape security checks.
But, the Police uncovered the arms through timely use of intelligence.

The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Command, DSP Bright Edafe, made this known through official statement issued in Warri.

DSP Edafe, explained that the suspect was apprehended on Friday by the patrol team of the Bomadi Police Division.

According to him, the Police operatives were on routine stop and search duty at the Bomadi/Tuomo Road in Bomadi Local Government Area of the state, when they uncovered the crime.

He informed :
“On October 1, 2021 at about 07:30 hrs, policemen attached to Bomadi Divisional patrol team while on stop and search duty in Bomadi/Tuomo Road, stopped a cyclist, identified as Solomon Ebe, who carried a bag containing garri.

“The operatives, who became suspicious decided to search the suspect and the bag.
Upon the search, 340 rounds of AK-47 live ammunition hidden inside the garri were recovered. The suspect was immediately arrested and investigation is on- going”.

In the same vein, the Command also apprehended Ejiro Efemijoghor (female) for allegedly being in possession of an English double barrel gun and 26 live cartridges.

The Police spokesman revealed that the suspect was arrested on Wednesday by the operatives attached to the Command’s Raider Squad.

“On Sept. 29, at about 0300hrs, acting on credible information, Operatives attached to the Command’s Raider Squad raided Utuloho Street, Ozoro in Isoko North.

“In the process, one English double barrel gun and 26 live cartridges were recovered in possession of Efemijoghor.
The suspect claimed that the gun belongs to her husband.
The Command is also investigating the matter.”
