BOAN to hold first annual convention in grand style

• We are ready for a special outing – Chairman, planning committee, Hajia Bola Muse
• Says Transport Minister is the Special Guest of honour

Obviously, the Barge Operators Association of Nigeria (BOAN); is ready to hold its first Annual Convention, with focus on efficient barge operations in grand style.

The Chairman, Planning Committee of the programme, Hajia Bola Muse, explained that the programme, scheduled for this month of August, 2021, at the prestigious Marriott Hotel, Ikeja GRA, Lagos, will be the best of its kind in the barge sub-sector of the economy.

Speaking further, Hajia Muse, said that the programme will be very unique, as Minister of Transportation, Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, is expected to grace the occasion as Special Guest of Honour.

Her assertions :
“Expectations are very high in the sense that; it is our belief that our requests will be granted.
Panelists from the maritime industry will treat the burning issues surrounding barge operations.

“Also, it will be an epoch making event, as Awards will be given to supporting companies. As I said earlier, the Minister of transportation is going to be the Special Guest of Honour. While the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Babajide Sanwo- Olu, is the Chief Host.”

Madam Muse, expressed great optimism that the Convention will make tremendous impact in the industry; and as well provide a veritable platform for deliberation on important issues about barge operations in the country.

She equally assured that the Planning Committee under her leadership is working tirelessly to ensure that the programme is well coordinated to meet expectations of BOAN members and stakeholders in the maritime industry.

Recall that just few days ago, precisely on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, BOAN formed a strategic working partnership with Maritime Workers Union of Nigeria ( MWUN), to
enhance efficiency on barge operations in Nigerian waters; and for better service delivery.

That was not all. The two groups also inaugurated a high powered steering Committee, with a primary mandate to harmonise activities of barge operators in the country.

Thus, with a reputable personality like Hajia Bola Muse, as the Chairman, Planning Committee of this much- talked-about BOAN Convention, one can only expect the best from the Committee, the type of event that will make lasting impression on the minds of stakeholders.
Madam Muse, is no doubt a major stakeholder in Nigerian maritime industry.
She is the current President, Women in Maritime African and a force to reckon with in maritime operations.
