Editor MMS Plus, raises alarm on invasion of office by Armed Policemen over Dangote Refinery story

• Alleges involvement of Dangote Corporate Communications Officer

The Editor-in-Chief of MMS Plus Newspaper, Mr. Kingsley Anaroke, has raised alarm over alleged invasion of his office by four armed policemen, early today.

Mr Anaroke, alleged attempt by the security operatives to accost him and the Editor of MMS Plus, Mr. Kenneth Jukpor, over a story published on possible take over of Dangote refinery by AMCON owing to increasing debts .

He also alleged that the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Dangote Group, Mr. Anthony Chiejina, was behind the invasion of office.

His words :
“It would be recalled that the seige by the Police is a follow-up by earlier threats made by the Chief Corporate Communications Officer, Dangote Group, Mr. Anthony Chiejina at the weekend.”

He went on; “Chiejina had threatened to deal with the editorial leadership of the news outfit via legal action, following the news story titled; “AMCON May Take Over Dangote Refinery As Liabilities Swell” written by our Reporter and published by our media organisation”.

He alleged;. “After several failed attempts to get the Editor pull down the story, the Dangote spokesman, instead of a rejoinder or the legal action, which he threatened against our media house, resorted to bullying by sending four policemen to beseige the headquarters of Kings Communications Limited at Festac, Lagos since 7am. The Police men asked for keys to the personal office of the Editor -in-Chief.

“It should also be on record that Mr Chiejina had searched for the photos of the news editor, Jukpor and Publisher, Anaroke on Sunday and sent them to the Editor as a subtle threat, which was ignored. This press statement has become necessary to draw the attention of the global press to the plight of Journalists, who refused to be gagged”.

More so, when contacted through telephone call to hear his own side of the story, Mr Chiejina, countered the allegations. He
described the allegations as false and misleading.

He exclaimed, “I am in my office right now !
I have no business with Police men anywhere.
Why should I worry myself about a news report that is not true.?
The writer himself knows that the report is false.”

The Dangote spokesman, continued; “It is good the way you called to know the truth. As a Journalist, I will like you to read the AMCON report, to see for yourself that the report is false. The report is complete falsehood. There is no element of truth in it.
Even the AMCON person was not interviewed.
So, the report shows nothing but lies put together by the writer.

“It is really unfortunate that some people are trying to spoil Journalism profession by giving false information to the public without any investigation..

“They will just sit one place, fabricate false reports and disseminate to unsuspecting readers”.
