*Calls on local, foreign companies to invest in the Zone
(Report by Udeme Clement):
The initiative by Akuluouno international traders and Lion Business Park to make the South/East region of the country Industrial hub has attracted commendations from entrepreneurs in different sectors.
While some entrepreneurs commended the group for looking inward to invest in Nigeria, others said that Enugu Free Trade Zone (FTZ) project will create jobs and stimulate growth in non-oil export sector of the economy.
Speaking at the investment seminar organised by Akuluouno international traders, in collaboration with Lion Business Park, at the prestigious Santiago Milan hotel, Lagos,
to sensitise investors on economic benefits of the Zone. the Publicity Secretary of Ndigbo-Amaka Group, also a logistics manager, Mr Ejike Metu, called on companies to bring more businesses to the region.
Mr Metu stressed that Akuluouno International Traders and Lion Business Park members, the promoters of the project are being
visionary in their approach to enhance Industrialisation in the region and the country at large.
His words: “The luncheon is organised to let the world know of this laudable project, so that more investors can come in. A project of this magnitude is big and investors within and outside the country need to know about it.”
Mr Metu, pointed out: “Akuluouno is made up of Ndigbo-Amaka market group. Akuluouno has many meanings. It is a name. Akuluouno is a project. Akuluouno means we are going home.
Akuluouno traders and Lion Business Park are doing a great job. I’m going to invest in this project and I’m calling on all our brothers and sisters, as well as foreign companies to invest in this project as well”.
More so, the promoters of Enugu Free Trade Zone, are projecting the Zone to become the largest industrial hub in entire West African sub-region.
Our Correspondent gathered that the project is really huge. The Zone occupies over two thousand hectares of land. It has small, medium and large industrial plots. Light and heavy assembling plants. Import and export market. Small scale production suites. Ware housing and logistics sites. Hotels and central boulevard plots for commercial activities. Business suites and showrooms. Presidential support estate. Restaurants, eateries within the exhibition complex.
