(Report by Udeme Clement):

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Niger/Kogi Command has countered media report on seizure of a truck loaded with over 200,000 live ammunition, along Wawa-babana border, describing it as misleading and unfounded.

The Public Relations Officer (PRO), of the Command, DSC Emmanuel Tangwason, made this declaration on official press statement signed and made available to reporters.

He informed that the said incident in reference on the media report took place about three year ago and was widely reported in national newspapers and many online news platforms.

The Command PRO urged the public to ignore the report and should not reckon with it, as the seizure is NOT a recent occurrence.

His declaration: “We wish to state clearly that the incident in reference took place about three years ago. The seizure was widely reported in Newspapers and many online platforms then.

“The latest re-circulation of seizure that took place a long time ago is therefore misleading and capable of causing unnecessary panick in the country”.

Giving further explanation, the PRO stressed, “This latest media report should therefore be ignored, as the Command has no such incident in recent time.”
