Customs in FOU Zone ‘B’ Kaduna records another feat

*Intercepts N51.4million contraband in 2 weeks

• Vehicles, foreign Soap, rice among seizures

The Nigeria Customs Service, Federal Operations Unit (FOU), Zone ‘B’ Kaduna, has recorded another feat in anti-smuggling operations within a very short period.

The Unit through hard work and resilience of Officers made seizures of prohibited items worth over N51,499,799.58 ( approximately N51.5million), in Duty Paid Value (DPV).

Most remarkable is the fact that the seizures were made in just two weeks. Also, this is coming only few weeks after the same Unit intercepted smuggled items worth millions of naira.

Addressing Journalists in Kaduna, the Customs boss in Zone ‘B’ Kaduna, Comptroller Hamisu,
disclosed that the Unit made a total of 39 seizures from March 22 to April 8, 2021.

The items he displayed before reporters include 801 bags of foreign parboiled rice and 38 bags in 25kg of same item. Others include 180 cartons of foreign spaghetti; 81 kegs of vegetable oil; 74 cartons of foreign Giv and Eva Soap; 48 bales of secondhand clothes; 28 cartons of Ginny Creamer and eight vehicles used as means of conveyance of the contraband.

He informed that seizures were made by various patrol teams of the Unit, at different locations within the Zone comprising of10 States and the Federal Capital territory (FCT).

Comptroller Hamisu, called on the public to partner with the Zone in its campaign to tackle illicit trade in all ramifications.
