Customs to train 27 maritime Journalists on factual reportage

• Mandates Lagos NUJ to select participants

The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has concluded plans to train 27 maritime Journalists reporting activities of the Service, in order to upscale their competences in the job.

The 2-day training programme slated for April 2021, will take place at Customs Training College, Ikeja Lagos.

In order to ensure appropriate selection of Reporters for the exercise, the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Lagos State chapter, has been given the mandate to nominate 27 participants, who will attend the training.

As the Body regulating activities of Journalists, and recognised by government, NUJ will take charge of selecting 27 reporters
across various media organisations, who are qualified to participate in the exercise.

The press statement issued from the office of Customs Deputy National Public Relations Officer, revealed that the Comptroller-General of Customs – CGC Hameed Ali, has already granted approval for the training.

Also, the topics to be discussed at the training are already stated by the Service, even as experienced resource persons have been carefully selected to make the programme a success.

The programme will pave the way for interaction and exchange of ideas needed to ensure factual reportage.
