Customs agent faults CRFFN on POF collection
* We renew our licenses with Nigeria Customs annually – Says Enwelu
(Report by Udeme Clement):

The Chairman/Chief Executive Officer (CEO), MacManuel Global Logistics Limited, Mr Emeka Enwelu, has expressed displeasure on the collection of Practitioners Operating Fee (POF), by Council for the Regulation of Freight Forwarding in Nigeria (CRFFN), before release of cargo from the ports.
MacManuel boss, who is also a Licensed Customs Agent, said the matter is already in Court and CRFFN must respect the rule of law and desist from POF collection.
According to him, “POF should not affect Customs Agents because we are officially licensed by Nigeria Customs.
“Aside from being licensed by Nigeria Customs to operate, we also renew our licenses every year with Customs.
“So, why is CRFFN forcing us to pay POF ?
Why is the Council telling us to pay POF to a body that is not under Nigeria
Customs.
“CRFFN should collect POF from transporters and not Licensed Customs Agents, who are renewing their licenses on yearly basis with Nigeria Customs.
“Most importantly, why the rush ?
The case is in Court, let CRFFN wait for the final decision of the Court.
Looking at Nigeria legal system, our Constitution says whenever any case is before the Court, parties involved must wait for the final pronouncement by the Court.
“This means, POF collection by the Council at the moment is illegal, as long as the Court has not decided on the case”.
