AfCFTA : NAGAFF Academy students to tour member States of African Union – Says Registrar

(Report by Udeme Clement):

The Registrar of NAGAFF Academy :

As implementation of African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA), begins, the National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), is enlightening its members on the trade concept.

The Registrar of NAGAFF Academy, Fwdr Francis Omotosho, made this known during his lecture on AfCFTA, and the readiness of maritime stakeholders to key into the concept, presented on the Roundtable, organised by Maritime Journalists Association of Nigeria (MAJAN), at Apapa, Lagos.

He disclosed that NAGAFF Academy
has concluded arrangement to take its students out on study visits to all the African Union Member States.

According to him, the initiative is to enable the students see the potentials and opportunities available in other Africa countries.

This, he said, would enable the students of NAGAFF Academy to cut a niche for themselves as Nigerians and connect with traders, logistics services providers, as well as freight forwarders counterparts.

“This is very important since we have all agreed to trade amongst ourselves in Africa without barriers, limitation and with tariff free trade transactions.”, he pointed out.

Speaking further, Fwdr Omotosho, explained, “When fully implemented, AfCFTA would eliminate tariffs on intra- businesses to trade within the continent and cater for growing African market.

“AfCFTA would also create a liberalised market for goods and services through successive rounds of negotiation.
AfCFTA is to lay the foundation for establishment of a continental customs union.”
