uncompromising Customs Officer – Says James Shodiya

The Producer and Host of Portbizness on Radio Nigeria 103.5fm, Mr James Shodiya, has described Deputy Comptroller DC Anthony A. Abosede as legendary and uncompromising officer of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).

Mr James made this assertion during Portbizness 7th year anniversary live broadcast on Radio Nigeria.

Talking about the contributions of NCS to national security, he said DC Abosede over the years has displayed
distinguished traits in Customs operations, especially in trade facilitation.

His words, “Her selfless service and display of expertise in revenue generation for the Federal Government are found in rare competence and excellence.

“The history of courageous and hardworking feminine folks in Nigeria Customs s6ervice is full of names of brave officers, nevertheless the name DC Abosede towers among them, owing to self confidence, vigor and intelligence she brought to bear while serving at various Commands”.

Shodiya stressed, “As the job of fighting smugglers, who are on a mission to destroy the nation’s economy is highly specialised assignment, unknown to many that it could be dangerous, emotionally hurting and risky most times.  DC Abosede while on the line of duty had to face smugglers in their deadliest form, when she was a serving officer in Abia State. Then, she was in charge of checking movement of persons and goods in and out of the border lines.

“Later, she was posted to Lagos, the commercial city of Nigeria. While in Lagos, DC Abosede worked in APMT, PTML, Murtala Mohammad International Airport, mostly in Customs Intelligence Units (CIU) and valuation departments- which are sensitive Units of the Service.

“She is always a reliable foot soldier and delight of Area Controllers because of her hard work and resilience.

“Her rare tactics of blending mentorship and reformation with expertise into her job informed why Comptroller Musa Mohammed, the CAC of Tinca Command posted her to Clarion terminal, one of the busiest and sensitive terminals in Lagos, to oversee the valuation unit.

“On her arrival at Clarion terminal, it was a den of various human characters.
Instead of being scared of the situation, she adopted her motherly instinct to sensitive the clearing agents, who are now adding value to the economy through legitimate trade.”

He emphasised, “DC Abosede has gained local and international recognitions as a competent Customs officer, as well as numerous accolades to her honour.

“She is currently serving at the Customs Training College, Ikeja, Lagos, as Deputy Commandant”.
