Customs at KLT seizes 16 containers of Tramadol, contraband worth over N229million

The Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Kirikiri Lighter Terminal Command, Lagos, has intercepted 16 containers of Tramadol and other prohibited items imported into the country illegally.
The Customs Area Controller, CAC, of the Command, Comptroller Oladuni Morenike- (Mrs), disclosed this while briefing news men at the Command.
She revealed that the items were seized through intelligence.
Comptroller Oladuni hinted that investigation is on-going to unravel the syndicate behind importation of the seized Tramadol tablets and other items.
She also disclosed that the Tramadol tablets were concealed with other pharmaceutical products by the importer, in a deliberate attempt to escape security checks, but her officers through intelligence uncovered the items.
Her words: “The Tramadol was seized through intelligence. We have written to the Customs headquarters and we are waiting for further directives, after which the pharmaceutical products will be handed over to NAFDAC for further investigation.”
The CAC also displayed a 40ft container fully loaded with used- tyres, but falsely declared as chemicals, as well as other items concealed in various containers, but seized by the Command.
