Stakeholders in the maritime industry have condemned in strong terms the destruction of national assets worth billions of naira in Lagos State by hoodlums, who took advantage of the End-SARS protest to unleash mayhem.
Stakeholders particularly condemned the setting ablaze of Nigerian Ports Authority, NPA, headquarters at Marina, Lagos, describing the act as barbaric and unfortunate.
Speaking, the National President,
National Council of Managing Directors of Licensed Customs Agents (NCMDLCA), Lucky Amiwero, described the destruction of NPA’s office and facilities as a huge loss to the nation’s economy, especially at a period when Nigeria is trying to recover from the ravaging effect of COVID-19, that has affected every sector of the economy including maritime.
It was observed that the fire, which damaged NPA’S main building also affected the quarters, as cars belonging to members of staff and other official vehicles were completely razed
