The Apapa Command of Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), has made remarkable performance in revenue collection for the Federal Government, despite the COVID-19 Pandemic ravaging the nation’s economy.

The Command through assiduousness of the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Compt Mohammed Abba-Kura, generated a huge amount of N140.3 billion in the third quarter of 2020 (July – September).

Compt Mohammed Abba-Kura, disclosed this during press briefing at the Command this afternoon.

He explained, “The amount collected in the third quarter shows a difference of N30 billion , when compared to N110.2 billion realised the same period in 2019.

He informed, “This amount reflects 27 percent increase of revenue collected in the period under review.

“In addition to revenue generation of the Command from January to September 2020, N367.6 billion was collected and remitted to the federation account, as against N313.5 billion realised the same period in 2019. This shows a significant difference of N54.1 billion, representing 17 percent increase.

“The difference was made possible as a result of resilient officers ensuring that importers and agents did proper declarations, adhered strictly to import/export guidelines in tandem with extant laws”.

He went on, “The Command made seizures worth over N19.5billion from January to September 2020”.

More so, the Command recorded N26.2 billion in export trade.
