100 % Compliance team lauds Customs on support, operational effectiveness

The National Coordinator, 100 percent Compliance Team, Alhaji Ibrahim Tanko, has commended Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, for giving the Team tremendous support in carrying out its duties in the nation’s ports.

Alhaji Tanko, made this assertion in a meeting with maritime reporters in Lagos, today.

He expressed great pleasure on the support that Customs is giving the Compliance Team through its operational effectiveness and working synergy with relevant stakeholders in the maritime industry.

Speaking further, the National Coordinator urged importers and freight forwarders to ensure total compliance with the fiscal policies of Federal Government on maritime trade, in order to enhance speedy cargo clearance from the ports.

According to him, “At the moment, we have recorded 50 percent compliance but we want to achieve more, at least over 80 percent at the end of the year”

The high point of the meeting was presentation of award for outstanding performance to Alhaji Tanko.

The honour was bestowed on him following his enormous contributions to the growth of Nigerian maritime industry in areas of investments, creating jobs for many Nigerians and corporate social responsibility.

Members of the Compliance Team and other stakeholders who witnessed the award ceremony described it as an honour well deserved.

More so, Alhaji Tanko expressed appreciation for the honour, saying the Compliance Team is still on tour of bonded terminals and will do a thorough work in carrying out this important assignment.

The 100 percent Compliance Team is an initiative of National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, NAGAFF, under the leadership of Dr Boniface Aniebonam, as the Founder.
