The report reaching our news platform reveals that the Customs Strike Force covering Zone ‘A’ region has intercepted a bullet proof Toyota landcruiser worth over 130milion in Duty Paid Value, DPV.
Our Correspondent learnt that the vehicle was imported into the country without End-User-Certificate from the office of National Security Adviser.
In the same vein, the Strike Force team also seized 372 cartons of codeine syrup estimated at a monetary value of about N222million, with each carton containing 200 bottles.
When contacted, the Staff Officer, SC Enemuo Samuel, confirmed the report.
He disclosed, “Over 1,200 bags of foreign rice have been seized within just two weeks, with DPV of over N15,902,760”.
His words, “Other items intercepted within the same period include 350kegs of vegetable oil. On credible information, the vegetable oil was intercepted at Iddo area of lagos. The DPV is N3,307,500.
“Used vehicles and other prohibited items were equally intercepted by our operatives”.
He stressed that the Customs Strike Force in Zone ‘A’ under the leadership of DC Kakudi AG, as the Coordinator, is leaving no stone unturned in anti-smuggling operations within its area of coverage.
