The Customs Area Controller, CAC, Western Marine Command of Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, Comptroller Olugboyega Peters, has
decorated 15 newly promoted officers of Customs.
Speaking during the exercise yesterday, Compt Peters, told the officers to ensure hard work and selfless service, in order to justify their new ranks.
Compt Peters, who commended his officers for their doggedness in tackling smuggling on creeks and waterways, urged them to remain focused and un-deterred in discharging their duties irrespective of smugglers antics.
His words, “Be vigilant at all times. We are now in a new era when hard work, Intelligence and integrity are important.
“This promotion is transparent and based strictly on merit of performance. The promotion is approved by the Customs Management to encourage you in carrying out your statutory functions. Do your best to justify the confidence reposed on you by the Service”.
The CAC stressed, “your new ranks call for increased efficiency and additional responsibilities. Ensure you follow appropriate procedures in doing your work according to the regulations of the Service”.
Speaking further, Compt Peters thanked CGC Ali Hameed and his Management for ensuring regular promotion of officers. He said a time when officers stayed for many years without promotion had gone.
He emphasised, “Do not disappoint the management that has deemed it necessary to promote you. Do more by developing your skills on core areas of revenue generation, suppression of smuggling and trade facilitation, among other functions.’
The decorated officers were I. Ohanyere- promoted from Assistant Comptroller to Deputy Comptroller and
S. O Ariyibi – promoted to Assistant Comptroller. Other Promoted officers include A. G Musa; E. Tangwa; S. Dimka;
H. O Balogun; A. Salisu and A. Adeniyi, among others.
