The news reaching us now from Kwara State reveals that the Joint Border Drill Operations, Sector -3 zone, covering Niger, Kwara, Kogi and Benue States, just intercepted 21 vehicles smuggled into the area by illicit traders.
Our sources revealed that the operation was led by the coordinator of Joint Border Drill, Comptroller Mohammed Uba, who took his operatives through bush paths within the border communities to intercept the items.
Our news inquest also reveals that the smuggled vehicles loaded with other prohibited items were intercepted by Comptroller Uba and his men, along Karonji Village, at Chikanda border in kwara State, last night.
When contacted for comment, Comptroller Uba, confirmed the report.
He stressed that his team will continue to give smugglers tough time, until they desist from economic sabotage and support government’s fiscal policies aimed at promoting economic growth and development.
Comptroller Uba emphasised, “Our statutory duty is to implement government’s fiscal policies on trade. That is exactly what the Joint Border Drill team stands for. The seized vehicles will be driven to Customs headquarters in Ilorin.”
