NAGAFF commissions new office for Compliance team

The National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders, NAGAFF, has officially commissioned a new office for operatives of the 100 percent Presidential Compliance Team to begin its duty of monitoring activities in the nation’s ports.
The commissioning exercise was carried out by the Founder of NAGAFF, Dr. Boniface Aniebonam, at Leo Complex, Eleganza, Apapa, Lagos.
Speaking at the occasion, Dr Aniebonam, informed that everything has been put in place for the Compliance team to start work immediately.
He explained that NAGAFF has an Academy in Apapa, Lagos, where operatives of the Compliance team have been trained to ensure efficiency in their work.
NAGAFF Founder added that the Compliance team will also work in collaboration with Customs enforcement Unit, to ensure that port users give correct declaration and appropriate documentation in cargo clearance from the ports.
This, he said becomes imperative to save trade and prevent revenue leakages in the system. “The Compliance team knows what to do. It is not going to be business as usual. We must respect the rule of law and add value to the system”, he stressed.
Speaking further, the Founder commended National Co-ordinator of NAGAFF Compliance Team, Alhaji Tanko Ibrahim, for his hard work and resilience in moving the association forward. He described Alhaji Tanko as a committed and dedicated member of the association.
In his remarks Alhaji Tanko, said that operatives of the Compliance team had already been given their official aprons and with the commissioning of an office, they are ready to start work.
His words, “We are going to ensure effective monitoring of activities in the ports, because we want all government officials to do the right thing in cargo clearance. Importers and freight forwarders must stop false declaration.
“The reality is that Federal Government is losing a lot of revenue. So, we are ready to work hard in assisting government in all aspects of port operations. If we do the right thing, this will enhance more income-flow for government to run the economy, rather than sourcing for external loan”.
