Customs Spokesman says reports on alleged breach of contracts award by CGC false, misleading

By Udeme Clement

DC Attah:

The National Public Relations Officer, Nigeria Customs Service, NCS, DC Joseph Attah, has described as false and misleading the reports on alleged breach of contracts award by Comptroller General-Customs, CGC Hameed Ali.

His explanation, “Yesterday, the House Investigative Committee on unspent funds played host to the Comptroller General of Customs.

“The focus was on unspent funds for a period between 2010 to 2020.

“While the CGC appeared before the Committee, questions were asked about contracts that were awarded before his appointment as CGC”.

He went on, “Obviously, there were discrepancies, hence the Committee suggested that a sub-committee including members of the National Assembly and the Service be set up, to iron out the grey areas before representation.

“It is therefore surprising that some mischief makers through online platforms have gone to town with twisted narrative that 191 illegal contracts were awarded by the CGC in one day.

“This is not true and does not represent the true position of what transpired at the Committee seating”.
