Shippers’ Council issues guidelines on resumption for workers

*Fumigates offices, buses to curb spread of COVID-19

In line with the directives of Federal Government to ease the
lock-down, Nigerian Shippers’ Council,
NSC has given guidelines on resumption of duties to certain categories of its workers.

The Council also fumigated its Offices and buses in readiness for resumption, in order to ensure health safety of staff.

This decision formed part of the circular issued to staff.

The document signed by Executive Secretary of the Council, Hassan Bello, stated; “Resumption will be phased with Directors, Deputy Directors, as well as Heads of Divisions, to report on May 4, 2020.”

The circular provided more details, ‘Resumption date for officers on levels 14 /15 will be announced in due course.

“The office will operate three times in a week, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. The working hours will be from 9 am to 2 pm, each day.

“ We are phasing resumption starting with officers on Levels 16 and 17, subsequently 14 and 15 will join. The date for resumption of levels 14 and 15 will be announced soon.

“There shall be complete protocols on hygiene, social distancing and other health guidelines. The Medical unit along with HR Department will issue guidelines and monitor compliance on safety measures.

“Transportation to and from work will similarly be guided by health protocols and advisories.

“For those outside Lagos, who may find it difficult to resume now, they should wait until circumstances become easier. They should work from home”.

The circular added, “These directives are applicable to all zonal offices but subject to rules prescribed by State governments. For instance, Kano is in lock-down now, so staff must strictly obey directives of the state government.

“Stay safe, observe personal hygiene, physical distancing and wearing of face masks. Remain at home, unless it is absolutely necessary for you to go out.
Let us follow government measures, in order to eliminate coronavirus in Nigeria.”
